The Search For Cover Cars |
| Tips For Taking The Shot That Will Make It:
1. Hi-Res: Make Sure that your photos are done in a high-resolution format and sized large. We are looking for a minimum of 8"x10" at 300dpi.
2. Lighting: Make sure your car is well-lit. Shadows are your enemy if they are obscuring your subject (your Miata!).
3. Background/Reflections: Make sure to look at your background. Is it really interesting or just a boring scene? Also, make sure that you have as few as possible reflected images on your car - a nice parking lot shot is one where your car is the only one in the lot (we don't want those "lesser" cars reflected all over your fantastic Miata).
4. Cropping: Don't do it. Let us decide how to crop your image. The above example could have vastly improved its chances if it was a complete shot.
5. Action Shots: Done easily, but safety is a must. If you decide to have one of your friends shoot your vehicle while its in a gnarly S-curve, make sure to be as safe as possible (we don't want pictures of a wreck!).
6. A Few Words: Go ahead and include a few words about your car - modifications you have made, trips you have taken, etc. Don't go overboard, but we would love to hear a few key elements about your favorite car!
7. Send It In: Email your submission or questions as soon as possible to Chris Knight [email protected]. We will also be posting your submissions in a gallery so that everyone can have their cars seen by those in the community.

Jay Leno's Mazda Miata
Mazdasport Magazine reports that when Jay heard his brother had bought a Miata in '96, he couldn't help but ask him - "What did you buy that for? Why didn't you get an MGA Twin Cam or something? Something that will leak oil and catch fire?" Now that he has inherited from his late brother, Jay has changed his tune and now it is no joke - he loves this car!

Moss Motors has upgrade all of our Robbin's Tops to Polyester backing material -
Moss Motors has upgraded all of our Robbins tops to Haartz vinyl coated Polyester backed top material for all Miata applications. For decades, Cotton had been the product of choice, because it was the only product available. Cotton, being an organic material, is susceptible to discoloration, fading and rot (due to moisture). Polyester backing has the following advantages: Polyester backing will not fade Polyester backing will not shrink Polyester backing will not rot like cotton Polyester backing does not have chemicals in it to cause seams to degrade or listings to come unsealed (unglued), significantly increasing top life
Robbins, the market leader in replacement tops, is the only company currently using the Polyester backing. Doug Robbins of Robbins Auto Tops tells us "The Polyester material costs a little more, but is the best value since it will greatly increase top life." |
