Miatas at Mazda Raceway 2010

Miatas at Mazda Raceway 2010 Offers Track Time and More.

Monterey, California – December 8, 2009

Hundreds of Miatas will descend upon Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on April 10-11 2010 for a two-day event that includes track time, vendors, special guests and a number of off-track activities.

Miatas at Mazda Raceway 2010Building on the huge success of the 20 anniversary event in 2009, this year's event promises even more. "Mazda was so happy with how the event went last year that they asked for a repeat immediately," organizer Rick Weldon said. "We've taken all of the strengths of last year's event - the track time with an emphasis on safety, the special guests and the great camaraderie - and added in some new activities".

Mazda North America Operations is the primary sponsor of the event, and is joined by P R Motorsports, Ohlins Advanced Suspension Technology, Flyin' Miata, Goodwin Racing, Trackmasters Racing and the Bay Area Miata Association.

The track time is split into four speed groups that allows anyone from novice to expert to come out to play. Instructors are available for anyone who wishes to get some coaching.

A large vendor area is planned, giving all participants a chance to check out some of the newest parts available for the Miata and even go for rides in vendor cars. For those enthusiasts seeking something other than on-track activities, there will be an organized fun drive around the area hosted by the Bay Area Miata Association to give visitors a locals-only view of the beautiful Monterey Penninsula.

Miatas at Mazda Raceway 2009Special guests include Derek Jenkins, Mazda's head of design, and Tom Matano, the original Miata designer. A banquet on Saturday night will allow attendees to get a chance to meet the guests, and maybe get a sneak peek into the design process of the new car. There's also a give-away of a set of new Ohlins Road and Track suspension, including installation by P R Motorsports and car setup by Brandon Kraus at Roger Kraus Racing - a prize worth approximately $4000.

Miatas at Mazda Raceway will take place from April 10-11, 2010 with a welcome barbecue and pin-swap Friday evening to kick things off at host hotel Embassy Suites.

Registration is now open on the event website: www.miatasatmazdaraceway.com
